Human Rights Shabbat - KS Center

  • Kol Shalom Community For Humanistic Judaism 1509 Southwest Sunset Boulevard Portland, OR, 97239 United States (map)

We will join almost 200 Jewish communities nationwide to commemorate International Human Rights Day.  The inspiration for this commemoration comes from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.  This year we are inspired by the work and writings of Carl Sagan, Jewish Humanist Role Model.  The ritual committee is taking a creative approach to the Human Rights Shabbat,  Intermingling the ancient with the modern, we explored ways to create a Shabbat where we could reflect upon and engage in conversation about Human Rights and the role of science.  Please join us in Shabbat Shalom - Sabbath Peace, thoughtful, thought provoking discussion,  and leave re-energized by your community.  Community provided oneg to follow the service.
