Joyce Lackie is a professor emeritus of English at Northern Colorado University. Alarmed by the degree of polarization she saw as a result of the 2016 election, she sought to understand the differences and to search for common ground by looking at moral bases for how Republicans, Democrats, and Libertarians form many of their policies.
She shares with us what she has learned and a bit of her own experience in trying to reach across party lines. As part of her program, she'll show a video talk by Jonathan Haidt, author
of The Righteous Mind.
Joyce is the the author of the oral history I Don't Cry, But I Remember: A Mexican Immigrant's Story of Endurance; and a member of Humanists of Greater Portland.
