The most recent issue of the Humanistic Judaism Magazine (Fall 2019) includes an article by Marc Switlitz that explores the importance of science within Humanistic Judaism. Marc conducted a survey of SHJ members on this topic and presented his findings at the SHJ@50 conference last April. This article is based on his presentation. The Humanistic Judaism Magazine is published by the Society for Humanistic Judaism.
Some of our discussion questions will include:
What do you think the relationship is between science and religion? Is there conflict, collaboration or are they independent?
What is the impact of science on Humanistic Judaism?
Does science support or interfere with our expectations about spirituality, poetry, tradition and community?
The Humanistic Judaism Study Group is a self-facilitated study group. Registration is not required and there is no fee. All are welcome!
