Kol Shalom Third Sunday Series Program, "Tri-Met and the State of Public Transit in the Metro Area," Brenda Martin.
Congestion is one of the most serious issues we face in the Metro Area. Tri-Met, and public transportation in general, plays a huge role in facing this problem.
What exactly is Tri-Met? Who funds it? What are its plans for increased service as the Metro area continues to grow? What is the relative value of light rail vs. bus service? What new technologies are in store?
Brenda Martin, Tri-Met's Service Planner will present on the "State of Public Transportation in the Metro Area" at our Kol Shalom Third Sunday Program Sunday, Jan. 19. The program runs from noon until 2:00 with Brenda's talk close to noon. The talk will be followed up with bagels and socializing. Brenda will stay for a time after the talk to take comments and answer questions.
Ms. Martin will also talk about what to expect from Tri-Met in the future including changes and additions to routes , types of vehicles that will be introduced and the changes that new technology will bring in the near future.

BRENDA MARTIN is currently a Service Planner at TriMet, representing the west and southwest service areas. She recently transitioned from her role as a Community Affairs Representative for the Division Transit Project and Southwest Corridor. She has worked in community outreach and transportation for over seven years. Previous to her time at TriMet, she worked at CH2M Hill as a Public Outreach Specialist. Brenda has a Masters’ in urban planning from Portland State University.
