A special zoom presentation by Dr. David Schoem from University of Michigan on “Reflections on Black-Jewish Relations”.
David Schoem teaches in the sociology department and is an affiliate faculty member in Judaic Studies at the University of Michigan. At UM, he has also held administrative roles as an assistant dean for undergraduate education, assistant vice president for academic and student affairs, and director of the Michigan Community Scholars Program. Dr. Schoem has extensive experience teaching in areas of intergroup relations, intergroup dialogue, education, and the American Jewish Community. He is the author/editor of eleven books, including Intergroup Dialogue: Deliberative Democracy in School, College, Community, and Workplace, Ethnic Survival in America: An Ethnography of a Jewish Afternoon School, and Inside Separate Worlds: Life Stories of Blacks, Jews, and Latinos. Dr. Schoem attended the University of Michigan (B.A), Harvard University (M.Ed) and the University of California at Berkeley (Ph.D).
